RecruitingDaily: soft skills dominate job requirements.

The demand for soft skills in job postings jumped 51% since last year, according to Randstad Sourceright’s 2022 Global In-Demand Skills Report.

Quantifying traits such as curiosity, empathy, adaptability and teamwork is challenging, yet they’re critical to success. In fact, a study that included Boston College, Harvard and the University of Michigan showed that “soft skills training in areas like problem-solving and communication increases productivity and retention by 12%, with a 250% return on investment.” 

What’s more, a “recent LinkedIn survey showed that 80% of HR professionals say that soft skills are increasingly important to a company’s (and a candidate’s) success.”  

Randstad Sourceright’s research also shows that women’s representation in technology roles continues to be low; just 15% of mobile applications developers identify as female. Helping women to pursue, advance or reskill in tech fields should be a priority for employers.
