HR news: demand for tech talent amid COVID-19.

The U.K. jobs market has seen a steady decrease in opening for most roles types since the outbreak of the COVID-19 crisis. However, professionals in data and software development could still find an increase in opportunities. This was one of the key findings of the COVID-19 impact analysis report from Randstad Sourceright.

“The economic slowdown brought about by the pandemic has forced companies to focus on what jobs and skills are truly essential, and how these roles can be carried out safely. It’s become clear that technology plays a critical part in ensuring a remote workforce is as efficient and productive as possible,” said Adam Nicoll of Randstad UK.

Among the roles that have been impacted by the pandemic, sales and marketing roles experienced the sharpest drop in demand, with more than 70% cut in vacancies. There have also been fewer job advertisements posted for junior-level positions, suggesting that workers with less experience may have been affected more by the crisis.
