Business Insider: HR has never been a hotter field.

The human resources profession has been evolving for years, but the impacts of 2020 have ratcheted up the speed of change. HR professionals are in increasingly high demand, as companies recover from the pandemic with a new perspective on employee expectations.

The C-suite knows that HR expertise is a must to establish new policies around workplace safety, remote working, diversity hiring and more. Yet, 45% of U.S. employers surveyed by Randstad Sourceright say that it’s hard to find HR leaders in 2021. That’s up significantly from the 13% who felt that way last year.

Of course, as with any measure of supply and demand, talented HR professionals are worth more than ever before. It’s estimated that salaries have increased up to 20%. Experienced HR professionals may have several good paying offers to consider, but the decision to make a career move comes down to more than money.

"If an organization can show how much HR is impactful to the overall company strategy, I think that will be attractive to an HR professional looking at their next step," says Sue Marcus, regional president at Randstad Sourceright North America.
