supporting young entrepreneurs through VSO sports week.
During the first two weeks of April, Randstad rallied up as a team in a united effort for our annual VSO Sports Week, #movetotalk
Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) and Randstad have a long-standing partnership that spans many years, countries and projects. This is thanks to our common interest of improving the lives of those in our communities by helping people find meaningful work.
Each year, VSO and Randstad partner in an initiative to help young, disadvantaged youth in African countries gain basic business skills, support start-ups and coach existing youth-led businesses to grow and become more resilient. Randstad employees get involved through "VSO Sports Week," whereby we collectively come together to walk, play sports and do exercise in an effort to fundraise for these projects.
This year, the project goal was to support 104 young people with disabilities in Zambia, helping them get access to better entrepreneurship and employability opportunities. The funds donated by Randstad and others will also help VSO promote an inclusive and conducive environment for young people with disabilities within their families, communities and the job market.
This year, 1,437 colleagues from 26 operating markets participated in the challenge, achieving 241,085 active minutes across Randstad, resulting in a donation of €30,000.
More than 200 people from Randstad Enterprise — including Randstad Sourceright, Randstad RiseSmart and Randstad Enterprise Group — participated in this initiative, making it the fourth most active opco across Randstad. We're proud of our colleagues who participated both individually and with their teams, virtually or physically together. They participated in activities such as walking, running, biking, yoga and even bouldering to contribute 24,922 active minutes together.
