Randstad employees collectively walk across Europe to raise money for Türkiye and Syria earthquake relief
For the third year in a row, Randstad Sourceright, Randstad RiseSmart and Randstad Enterprise Group employees took part in a pan-European charitable walking initiative, called Step2Win. Step2Win is a Randstad-created charitable fundraising event that has now become an annual tradition. This year the goal was to raise money for UNICEF as part of the relief efforts towards the recent earthquake that occurred in Türkiye and Syria in February 2023.
Four hundred and thirty participants across 86 teams collectively walked 40,173,222 steps over the span of two weeks. That’s an equivalent of 5,473 kilometers, or crossing Europe one and half times!
Participants kicked off the walking initiative at the end of April in London, U.K. and finished two weeks later in Ankara, Türkiye after also crossing points of interest in Diemen, Netherlands; Cologne, Germany; Warsaw, Poland; and Budapest, Hungary. There, colleagues shared interesting facts about the countries, greetings from local colleagues or interviews with a senior manager around client success stories.
A special congratulations to Fabio Rizza, MSP expert talent advisor, who alone accumulated a total of 402,044 steps! He, along with his team, the Whirling Step Weasels, achieved the most steps throughout the fundraiser.
“Step2Win is a great initiative and I loved seeing the engagement from all my colleagues — especially my teammates from the Whirling Step Weasels! My legs are still burning from trying to stay in the leaderboard but I’m proud that all our efforts went to a noble cause,” said Fabio.
By the time the Step2Win initiative reached Ankara, participants raised over €1,750 for UNICEF.
